THE AGREEMENT December 2, 2019 – Posted in: Blog

FPS is willing to offer this deal, which is several ways far superior to anything out there in the market, because of our ethical mission to save organic small farms through cooperative economics.
Therefore, we are only willing to bring on farmers who fit the following characteristics:
QUALIFYING FACTORS:

  • Farmers must already be organic certified with regenerative practices and can show that hemp will be an additional crop and part of rotations with other crops.
  • The crop must be hand harvested, never touch the ground, and use our handling steps.
  • Clones are offered at no upfront cost and no risk (if crop fails or goes hot). When you sell your crop through FPS, you will owe from your payout $15,000, $3ea. Market price is $5
  • Farmers must commit to sell their harvest back to Fat Pig Society.
    • We will aim to provide 10x better than market rate. (E.g. For 2019’s harvest, our farmers received $100/lb versus the standard market rate of $10/lb.)
    • We will process it through our system and sell it for you.
    • You will receive payment as it is sold.
  • Farmers must agree not to disclose any of the confidential and proprietary information regarding FPS’ business model and operations to any outside parties.
  • Farmers must join this project in good faith and participate collaboratively with other farmers and FPS pursuant to an independent cooperative model. Cooperatives are how farmers protect themselves and one another from getting ripped off. We envision an independent co-op that would eventually own and operate its own extraction and retail functions.

We have the full intention of COF being an independent producer-owned cooperative in the near future. Once our first 10 to 20 farmers have the target incomes we’re discussing, that revenue is to be leveraged to build, own and operated the complete supply chain at a much higher scale than FPS currently operates, allowing many more farmers to join.
FPS respects and welcomes your input and invites you to help us craft this as we go, but decision making this year would remain with FPS. Next year, when you’re making enough revenue to justify their own extraction plant and more, COF would have the power and ability to bring this model to scale through an independent democratic cooperative organization.
